Month 4: Offer Accepted — Waiting on SBA Approval
We found it. The perfect business — a Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar with Thai offerings. The moment we walked in, it felt right. Strong SDE, proven systems, great location, and it beautifully connects to my family’s restaurant legacy.
My mom owned several restaurants in Georgia. Growing up helping her taught me so much. Now, with both of my sons in the food & beverage industry (one is a hibachi chef — check out @colinhibachi), this feels like a legacy coming full circle.
We visited multiple times (incognito), brought in an accountant to review the P&L, completed due diligence, and made our offer. It was accepted! We’re now in the final stages — waiting on SBA loan approval while preparing for the transition.
We’ve also found a great rental home and will be renting out our current house in Flagler Beach to a trusted friend. Everything is aligning.
Key Lessons from Month 4
- Trust your intuition — when something feels deeply right, pay attention.
- Thorough due diligence gives you confidence and protects you.
- Creative financing (ROBS + SBA) makes this leap possible.
- Legacy is more than money — it’s honoring the past while building for the future.
- Patience in the waiting phase is part of the journey.
You’re not alone. Whether you’re celebrating a win, deep in research, or patiently waiting on the next step — I see you.
