My Story

After 28 years leading enterprise technology initiatives, digital transformation, and high-performing teams, a sudden layoff in early 2026 forced me to pause and ask a life-changing question: “What if I bet on myself?”

That single moment became the turning point — from corporate executive to founder of DKM Legacy Holdings and owner of Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar in Boynton Beach, Florida.

The Corporate Chapter

I spent nearly three decades in technology leadership roles, including Director of Enterprise Applications & Strategic Development at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Across my career I managed teams ranging from 15 to 155 people, mentored more than 100 professionals, and led major digital transformations, cloud migrations, and strategic initiatives that improved operations and delivered real results.

When restructuring eliminated my position, the initial shock was real. But it also created space for something deeper. I began asking what kind of work would allow me to build a lasting legacy while creating flexibility and impact for my family.

The Roots That Shaped Me

My resilience comes from my mother’s powerful legacy. She raised seven children alone after my father passed when I was three. A woman of extraordinary courage who left an arranged marriage to follow love, she built successful Thai-Chinese restaurants while teaching us the value of hard work, family, and perseverance. Growing up in that environment shaped everything I am today.

Why DKM Legacy?

DKM stands for Determination, Knowledge, and Momentum — the guiding principles that carried me through corporate leadership and now power this next chapter as a business owner and legacy builder.

After months of research, due diligence, and careful planning, my husband Marcus and I acquired Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar. On July 13, 2026, we officially closed and began writing the next chapter — operating a restaurant that reflects the values of quality, hospitality, and community.

This is more than a career change.
This is a legacy coming full circle.
